Jean Marc Borello started his career in 1977 as an educator for children with special needs. In 1981 he joined the Inter-Ministerial Mission addressing drug addictions before holding different positions in Ministerial Cabinets.
He left the public sphere in 1987 to become the head of a SME’s holding. In 1997 he founded the Groupe SOS. With its 15,000 employees and 405 structures, GROUPE SOS is one of Europe’s foremost social and societal undertakings.
Its actions focus on the fight against different forms of social exclusion using innovation. The group has branches in 35 countries and has reached a 900 million Euros revenue.
In 2010, Jean Marc Borello founded MOUVES, the Mouvement des Entrepreneurs Sociaux, which puts together entrepreneurs from all backgrounds using economic efficiency to serve the public interest.
He has been elected Social Entrepreneur of the year 2016. Jean Marc Borello regularly teaches at Sciences Po Paris.
